- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your cupcake pan with paper liners.
- Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- Step 3: In another bowl, mix together the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla extract, vinegar, and black food coloring (if using). Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Step 4: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Step 5: Use a spoon or ice cream scoop to divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Step 6: Place the filled cupcake pan in the preheated oven and bake for 18-20 minutes.
- Step 7: Allow the cupcakes to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Step 8: Once cooled, frost your cupcakes with your favorite icing.
