- Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Step 2: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Step 3: Stir in orzo pasta and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Step 4: Gradually add vegetable broth and heavy cream to the skillet. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
- Step 5: Stir in grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, dried thyme, and dried basil. Mix well until the cheese melts.
- Step 6: Pour the orzo mixture into a greased baking dish and sprinkle with breadcrumbs if desired.
- Step 7: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.
- Step 8: Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven, adding a splash of broth or cream to restore creaminess.
