Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Step 2: Line a muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
  3. Step 3: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ground ginger, and ground nutmeg.
  4. Step 4: In a separate bowl, cream the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  5. Step 5: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Step 6: Stir in the buttermilk and vanilla extract until well combined.
  7. Step 7: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
  8. Step 8: In a separate bowl, mix the flour, brown sugar, ground ginger, and ground nutmeg for the streusel topping. Pour in the melted butter and stir until crumbly.

  10. Step 10: Generously sprinkle the streusel topping over each muffin.
  11. Step 11: Bake for 18-22 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  12. Step 12: Allow muffins to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
