Method
- Step 1: In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of fresh cranberries with 4 cups of water. Bring this mixture to a boil over medium heat. Keep an eye on it, as it can bubble over if the heat is too high.
- Step 2: Once the mixture is boiling, reduce the heat to low and allow it to simmer for about 10 minutes. During this time, you will notice the cranberries bursting and softening.
- Step 3: After simmering, carefully remove the saucepan from the heat. Using a fine mesh sieve, strain the mixture into a bowl, discarding the solid cranberry skins and seeds.
- Step 4: While the cranberry juice is still warm, add 1 cup of sugar and stir until fully dissolved. You can taste the juice at this point and adjust the sweetness to your liking.
- Step 5: Allow the cranberry juice to cool to room temperature before adding 1 cup of orange juice and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir well to combine all the flavors.
- Step 6: Once mixed, transfer the drink to a pitcher or jar and refrigerate until chilled, about 1-2 hours.
- Step 7: To serve, fill a glass with ice cubes and pour the chilled Handcrafted Cranberry Fruit Drink over the ice. Garnish with fresh cranberries and orange slices for an eye-catching presentation.
Notes
Store the drink in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It can last for up to a week, but the flavor is best enjoyed within the first few days.
