Ingredients

  • 4 cups Fresh Cranberries Look for firm, plump berries with a deep red color for the best flavor.
  • 2 cups Water This will help to extract the juice from the cranberries.
  • Sweetener of Choice Optional, to taste. You can use sugar, honey, agave syrup, or any natural sweetener you prefer.

Equipment

  • Large saucepan
  • Fine Mesh Strainer or Cheesecloth
  • Large Bowl or Pitcher
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Measuring Cups
  • Juicer (optional)

Method

  1. Step 1: Rinse the Fresh Cranberries: Begin by thoroughly rinsing 4 cups of fresh cranberries under cold water. This step is crucial to remove any dirt or debris that may be present on the berries. Drain well.
  2. Step 2: Combine Ingredients: In a large saucepan, combine the rinsed cranberries and 2 cups of water. This mixture will form the base of your juice.
  3. Step 3: Bring to a Boil: Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. During this time, you’ll notice the cranberries begin to burst and soften, releasing their juices.
  4. Step 4: Cool the Mixture: After the cranberries have burst, remove the saucepan from heat and allow it to cool slightly. This step is important to avoid burns when you start to strain the juice.
  5. Step 5: Strain the Juice: Using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, strain the mixture into a large bowl or pitcher. Press down on the solids with a wooden spoon to extract as much juice as possible.
  6. Step 6: Add Sweetener: If desired, add your sweetener of choice to the strained juice. Stir well until fully dissolved. Taste the juice and adjust the sweetness according to your preference.
  7. Step 7: Chill and Serve: Place the juice in the refrigerator to chill before serving. Enjoy your homemade Pure Pressed Cranberry Juice on its own or as a mixer in your favorite cocktails!

Notes

Store your homemade cranberry juice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Shake well before serving, as natural separation may occur.
