- Step 1: Rinse the Fresh Cranberries: Begin by thoroughly rinsing 4 cups of fresh cranberries under cold water. This step is crucial to remove any dirt or debris that may be present on the berries. Drain well.
- Step 2: Combine Ingredients: In a large saucepan, combine the rinsed cranberries and 2 cups of water. This mixture will form the base of your juice.
- Step 3: Bring to a Boil: Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. During this time, you’ll notice the cranberries begin to burst and soften, releasing their juices.
- Step 4: Cool the Mixture: After the cranberries have burst, remove the saucepan from heat and allow it to cool slightly. This step is important to avoid burns when you start to strain the juice.
- Step 5: Strain the Juice: Using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, strain the mixture into a large bowl or pitcher. Press down on the solids with a wooden spoon to extract as much juice as possible.
- Step 6: Add Sweetener: If desired, add your sweetener of choice to the strained juice. Stir well until fully dissolved. Taste the juice and adjust the sweetness according to your preference.
- Step 7: Chill and Serve: Place the juice in the refrigerator to chill before serving. Enjoy your homemade Pure Pressed Cranberry Juice on its own or as a mixer in your favorite cocktails!
Notes
Store your homemade cranberry juice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Shake well before serving, as natural separation may occur.
