Method
- Step 1: Start by greasing a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Step 2: Place the cubed bread evenly in the prepared dish.
- Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg until well combined.
- Step 4: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes, making sure every piece is saturated.
- Step 5: Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 4 hours.
- Step 6: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Step 7: Remove the plastic wrap from the dish and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
- Step 8: Once baked, let the French toast cool for a few minutes before serving. Drizzle with maple syrup and dust with powdered sugar.
Notes
Leftover French toast can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven before serving.
